Ya que hoy saldrá previsiblemente el segundo capítulo de la segunda temporada de «The IT Crowd», he decidido hacer un pequeño post inspirado en el episodio de la semana pasada [24m47s].
Para ello, qué mejor que rememorar Grease, uno de los mejores musicales del mundo mundial con el que disfrutar de todo lo deliciosamente gay que uno puede ser. De paso aprovecharé para vengarme de todos esos cabrones energúmenos que se dedican a reventarme películas o partes de las mismas con imágenes, spoilers, etc. He aquí mi temida retribución: (casi toda) la escena final de una película que salío hace casi 30 años. Ahí, donde duele, reventando finales.

Curioseando por ChinesePod me asaltó la siguiente duda: ¿existe un movimiento heavy (o sucedáneo) significativo en China? Una respuesta la provee, of course, la Wikipedia. Como era de esperar, el asunto no tiene muy buena pinta.
La historia del rock (y derivados) en China tiene una cronología extremadamente corta: durante los 80 fue un movimiento marginal y muy reducido, y se señala el año 89 como el nacimiento de la corriente rockera. ¿Qué «casualidad«, no? Entre los años 90 y 93 hubo un cierto crecimiento de la escena, que permanecía excluida (oh, sorpresa) de los medios controlados por el estado. A partir del año 94 el movimiento entra en declive, hecho del que se culpa tanto a la censura del régimen comunista como al desinterés generalizado por los «productos, pensamientos y comportamientos politizados». Aparentemente, en los últimos años se ha detectado la introducción de corrientes de post punk y metal extremo en el escenario marginal mencionado anteriormente.
Esto último me recuerda que algún día tendré que informarme sobre el metal extremo en Cuba, sobretodo después de ver en Cubavisión una actuación de un grupo cubano de death metal. Al parecer, allí no puedes tener opiniones que difieran de las del barbas y sus allegados, ni ser homosexual, salvo que se quiera acabar en la cárcel, pero tener un grupo de death metal tiene incluso apoyo mediático. Algo es algo.
Aparte de la información de la Wikipedia, me he topado con este podcast que pretendo escuchar en cuanto tenga un ratito.

Ya hablé del disco hace dos años y medio, y me reafirmo en todas y cada una de mis pomposas aseveraciones, por lo que la película tendrá que superar un listón altísimo para mí.
Filming of the supernatural horror thriller CHEMICAL WEDDING is well underway. Based on an original screenplay by Bruce Dickinson, the film directed by Julian Doyle, veteran second unit director and editor of Terry Gilliam’s Brazil, Time Bandits and Monty Python’s The Life of Brian. Julian wrote and directed Maiden’s partially animated promotional video ‘Can I Play With Madness’.
Chemical Wedding stars Simon Callow as a reincarnation of Aleister Crowley, dubbed ‘the most evil man in Britain.’
Crowley was a major Edwardian figure and a scandalous character. A Cambridge graduate, he became an infamous mystic and occult scholar and although he died in 1947, his books are still in print and he remains a major focus for the occult world. In the film, Crowley’s spirit is re-animated by a superconductor mainframe, transforming the shy and stuttering Professor Haddo (Callow) into the charismatic but sexually depraved Crowley who wreaks havoc with the students and faculty of today’s Cambridge campus. The cast will be rounded out with cameos from Dickinson and other Python regulars.
The film should be released sometime in 2008 with Bruce supervising the soundtrack.
La noticia tiene ya una semanita, pero merece la pena destacarla. El propio Gary Holt anunciaba los nombres del disco y las pistas que lo compondrían en los foros oficiales de Exodus [wiki]:

Why Exhibit A you might ask? Because we already have four songs recorded and finished for the next album, which we will resume recording some time around the end of the year, and this is a two part record. Part two being exhibit B. So yes, there will be another Exodus album finished hopefully soon after the release of this one. And when all is said and done, there will never have been anything as brutal and genre defining done before in thrash metal. An epic monster this one is, and the next is going to take it even further.

O al menos, una de ellas, ya que unas entradas posteriores a la anterior, Gary apuntaba que:

Por otro lado, ya hay un par de canciones del nuevo disco que han interpretado en directo y que, por supuesto, se pueden encontrar en Youtube: una es «Funeral Hymn» [09m04s] y otra es «Bedlam 123» [06m12s]. Por mi parte, creo que esperaré a que llegue a las tiendas el 26 de Octubre para escucharlo.
